1.  Narcondam

* Located north-east of North Andaman

* Classified as a dormant volcano

2.  North Andaman

* Located in northern part of union territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

* The entire island is part of Diglipur Taluk

3. Interview Island

* Located west of Austen Strait which separates North Andaman Island and Middle Andaman Island.

* Part of Mayabunder Taluk

4. Middle Andaman

* Located in the central island of the Great Andaman archipelago

* Home to the indigenous Jarawa people

* Rangat, Mayabunder, Bakultala, Nimbutala and Kadamtala are towns in it

5. Barren Island

* Located west of Middle Andaman

* Only confirmed active volcano in South Asia

* Most recent volcano eruption in 2017

* Island is uninhabited

6. Swaraj Dweep

* Located 40 km of north-east of Port Blair

* It is a river island between the Brahmaputra and Subansiri Rivers in Assam

* Listed as world’s largest river island in Guinness Book of World Records

* It has an area of 352 km2

* It has shrunk more than half since the early 20th century

* Famous for Assamese neo-Vaishnavite culture and Mask making.

* It is a river island between the Wah Kynshi and Namiliang Rivers

* Second largest river island

21. Bhutni

* Located in the Malda district of West Bengal

* Surrounded by Ganga and Fulhar Rivers

22. Haliday Island

* Located in Sunderban delta on Malta river     

* Haliday Island Wildlife Sanctuary located in it

23. Marichjhanpi

* Located in the mangrove forests of the Sundarbans

* Had Refugee crisis in 1979

24. New Moore

* Located in the Bay of Bengal, off the coast of the Ganges-Brahmaputra delta

* Disputed between India and Bangladesh due to ambiguous Radcliffe Award

25.  Nayachar

* It is an island in the Hooghly River in Purba Medinipur, West Bengal

* A disputed chemical hub shifted from Nandigram

26. Salsette Island

* It is bounded on the north by Vasai Creek, on the northeast by Ulhas River, on the east by Thane Creek and Bombay Harbour, and on the south and west by the Arabian Sea

* It is most densely populated islands of the world

27. Aminidivi Islands

* It is the northern group of the three Lakshadweep UT island groups

* 11th parallel north separate it from Laccadive Island

* It lies in the central part of Lakshadweep UT

* 9 Degree separates it from Minicoy

* The group contains Minicoy Island and Viringili Island
