List of Major Coal Fields in India is as follows-

1. Aurangabad Coalfield

* Estimated reserves of 3 billion tonnes of coal.

* It one of the largest coal reserves in India.

* Located in the state of Bihar.

2. Birbhum Coalfield

* Estimated reserves of 5 billion tonnes of coal.

* Deucha Pachami coal block spread over an area of 9.7 km2, largest coal mine or coal block in Asia.

* Located in the state of West Bengal.

3. Bisrampur Coalfield

* Estimated reserves of 1.61 billion tonnes of coal.

* Located in the state of Chhattisgarh.

4. Chirimiri Coalfield

* Estimated reserves of 312 million tonnes of coal.

* In the valley of the Hasdeo River (a tributary of the Mahanadi).

* Located in Koriya district of Chhattisgarh.

5. Bokaro Coalfield

8. Hasdeo Coalfield

9. Jharia coalfield

* Jharia coalfield is the largest coalfield in India

*With estimated reserves of 19.5 billion tonnes of coking coal, the largest coal reserves in India.

* Located Jharkhand state.

10. Kamptee Coalfield

* Estimated reserves of 1.23 billion tonnes of coal.

* Located in Nagpur district of Maharashtra.

11. Korba Coalfield

* Estimated reserves of 10.1 billion tonnes of coal.

* Lie the basin of the Hasdeo River (Mahanadi tributary)

* Gevra open cast mine complex is one of the largest open cast mines in Asia.

* Located in Korba district of Chhattisgarh.

12. Mand Raigarh Coalfield

* Estimated reserves of 18.5 billion tonnes of coal.

* Lies in the valley of the Mand River (Mahanadi tributary).

13. Karanpura Coalfield

* Estimated reserves of 10.85 and 6.03 billion tonnes coal in North and South Karanpura Coalfields.

14. Rajmahal coalfield

* Fourth largest after Jharia, Raniganj and Karanpura coalfields.

15. Ramgarh Coalfield

* Estimated reserves of 1.06 billion tonnes of coal.

16. Raniganj Coalfield

* Estimated reserves of 18.5 billion tonnes of coal.

17. Singrauli Coalfield
